Marisha Wallace (Dreamgirls), Laura Baldwin (Eugenius!), Peter Hannah (Shakespeare in Love) and David Hunter (Kinky Boots will join Katherine McPhee in the West End production of Broadway musical Waitress.
McPhee returns to the lead role of Jenna, having played her to great acclaim on Broadway, with
Wallace and Baldwin playing Jenna’s friends and fellow waitress’ Becky and Dawn.
Peter Hannah has been cast as Jenna’s controlling husband Earl with David Hunter set to play the deliciously handsome Dr. Pomatter.
Final lead casting for the role of diner owner Ogie has yet to be announced.
Waitress has music and lyrics by 6-time Grammy® nominee Sara Bareilles, book by Jessie Nelson, direction by Diane Paulus and choreography by Lorin Latarro.
The musical premiered on 24 April 2016 at Broadway’s Brooks Atkinson Theater where it continues to play to huge crowds, and has since undertaken a US tour. In addition to its London premiere an Australian production has been announced for 2020 at the Sydney Lyric Theatre.
Waitress is booking from 8 February 2019 until to 19 October 2019 at the Adelphi Theatre, London.
