The long-running West End production of Matilda The Muscial will now start at 7.00pm rather than 7.30pm on weekdays at the Cambridge Theatre, London.
The production recently carried out an audience survey and found that the earlier start time was preferrable in the week, with new start times taking effeect from 12 September 2018.
Reasons for the earlier start time given in the survery included not having to rush back for those commuting out of town, the ability to socialise post show, and parents not having to worry about babysitters staying as late if wanting a night out without children.
Inspired by Roald Dahl’s beloved book, the award winning musical was commissioned by the RSC and opened in the RSC’s Stratford-upon-Avon home in November 2010, before transferring to London’s West End in October 2011. A critical and fan favourite, the show announced it is now booking until 20 October 2019 at the Cambridge Theatre.
Matilda is written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Australian actor, writer and musician Tim Minchin, and direction by The Old Vic’s Artistic Director Matthew Warchus.
