Improvised Jane Austen novel hits the West End

Austentatious: An Improvised Jane Austen Novel transfers to the West End

Following its acclaimed run at the Underbelly Festival on London’s Southbank, Austentatious: An Improvised Jane Austen Novel will transfer for 3 performances only to the Piccadilly Theatre in London’s West End.

Austentatious is an entirely improvised comedy play based on a ‘lost’ Jane Austen novel, whose title is suggested by the audience. Previous ’lost‘ masterpieces include The Sixth Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Shark and Double 0 Darcy.

Performed in full Regency costume with live musical accompaniment, no two shows are ever the same.

Underbelly Productions’ Ed Bartlam said: “Austentatious has been one of the most successful and best-loved shows we’ve worked with in both Edinburgh and on the South Bank in recent years, so it’s a huge privilege to be able to bring them to a West End audience for the first time. It’s their biggest production ever but, as the great lady herself said: ‘One cannot have too large a party’, so bring it on.”

The production stars Amy Cooke-Hodgson, Andrew Hunter Murray, Cariad Lloyd, Charlotte Gittins, Daniel Nils Roberts, Graham Dickson, Joseph Morpurgo and Rachel Parris.

Austentatious: An Improvised Jane Austen Novel will run on 5 December 2017, 23 January 2018 and 13 February 2018 at the Piccadilly Theatre.
