The Woman in White at the Charing Cross Theatre

Casting has been announced for the West End revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Woman in White. Australian actress Anna O'Byrne (The Phantom of the Opera) will star as Laura Fairlie alongside Chris Peluso (Miss Saigon, Show Boat) as Sir Percival Glyde, Carolyn Maitland (Ghost) as Marian, Ashley Stillburn (The Phantom of the Opera) as Walter Hartright, Greg Castiglioni (Titanic) as Count Fosco, and Sophie Reeves (Les Miserables) as Anne. Anna O'Byrne originated the role of Christine in the Australian production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Love Never Dies and subsequently made her West End debut in playing Christine The Phantom of the Opera. She most recently played Eliza Doolittle in Julie Andrew's 60th anniversary production of My Fair Lady at Sydney Opera House.   [caption id="attachment_54413" align="aligncenter" width="420"] Anna O'Byrne. Andrew has been, and continues to be, a guiding force in my career.” Musical theatre fans will remember the dashing Chris Peluso for his West End roles including Chris in Miss Saigon, Death in Death Takes a Holiday and Gaylord Ravenal in Show Boat at the New London Theatre. He most recently starred opposite Sheridan Smith in the UK tour of Funny Girl. With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by David Zippel, and a book by Charlotte Jones, The Woman in White is adapted from Wilkie Collins' Victorian thriller about a man whose life is changed after a chance encounter with a mysterious woman. The Woman in White receives its first West End revival since it premiered at the Palace Theatre 13 years ago and will have a revised score by Lloyd Webber and Zippel. Thom Southerland will direct the first West End revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Woman in White Southerland's production will be a streamlined version of the original, with a revised score from Andrew Lloyd Webber and David Zippel. Casting is yet to be announced but early indications are for Laura Pitt-Pulford to play leading character Marian Halcombe. The iconic role of Count Fosco - originated by Michael Crawford in a fat suit and then by Michael Ball - has been reimagined into a dashing and handsome young count. Lloyd Webber recently stated there were issues with the original production however he and Zippel had been tinkering with the show over the last few years and had given Southerland this new version to direct. The Woman in White opened to mixed reviews at the Palace Theatre in 2004 running for 19 months. Adapted from Wilkie Collins’ haunting Victorian thriller, he musical is a tempestuous tale of love, betrayal and greed and features one of Lloyd Webber's most romantic scores. The creative team, lead by Southerland (Titanic, Grey Gardens, Grand Hotel), includes movement by Cressida Carré, set design by Morgan Large, costume design by Jonathan Lipman, lighting design by Rick Fisher and sound design by Andrew Johnson.
