Show History

Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical premiered to critical acclaim at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre in 2007, enjoying a year-long run before transferring to Melbourne’s Regent Theatre. It later played in New Zealand before returning to Sydney for its final performances.

The West End production opened at the Palace Theatre, London, on 10 March 2009, running until 31 December 2011. The role of Mitzi/Tick was played by Jason Donovan, Ben Richards, and Richard Grieve (Emmerdale, Home & Away). Following its West End success, Priscilla embarked on a UK tour, receiving an enthusiastic response across the country. A 2019 tour featured Joe McFadden and Duncan James sharing the role of Tick.

The show has enjoyed global success, including a year-long Broadway run in 2012, a U.S. national tour, and productions in South America, Europe, and South Asia.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert is the ultimate feel-good musical adventure, following three Sydney based performers as they take their dazzling show to the unlikeliest of places—Alice Springs, a remote outback town in the heart of Australia.

Hopping aboard their trusty, if slightly battered, bus Priscilla, they set off from the bright lights of Sydney on a journey packed with glitter, giggles, and a few unexpected detours.
