New Frank Sinatra musical headed for the West End

A new musical based on the life of Frank Sinatra is coming to the West End.

Ambassador Theatre Group, The Sinatra family and film producer Stewart Till and are working on a new musical based on the extraordinary life of Frank Sinatra.

The production is scheduled to open in 2018 and will feature some of the best-known songs from his 1,400-strong back catalogue.

Adam Speers, the executive producer at ATG, said: “Sinatra’s life is fascinating — from his humble beginnings in New Jersey as the only child of Italian parents, through his rise to stardom, first as a chart-topping recording artist, selling over 150 million records worldwide and then as an Oscar-winning Hollywood film star.

The major issue with doing a musical on the life of Sinatra is how to cover it all in two hours. In addition to being an internationally renowned recording artist, Ol’ Blue Eyes was married four times, including to Hollywood actresses Ava Gardner and Mia Farrow, enjoyed a film career that landed him three Academy Awards, was a member of the legendary Rat Pack and reportedly had links with the Mafia and the Kennedy’s.
