Fresh from a critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Hotter Project’s eco-hijacking Hamlet parody HAM will transfer to Soho Theatre this autumn for a strictly limited run. The play received a Gold Edinburgh Festival Fringe Award at this year’s festival.

Soho Theatre has announced that HAM by Hotter Project will transfer to the London venue or a limited run, following a critically acclaimed run at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The production has been hailed as ‘the find of the festival‘ by The Telegraph and ‘vividly, viscerally alive’ by the Guardian. The production was also awarded a Gold Edinburgh Festival Fringe Award.

Mary Higgins and Ell Potter, co-founders of Hotter Project said, “We couldn’t be more excited to bring our weird and meaty baby to Soho Theatre. We hope audiences love our butchered Hamlet and leave the show feeling horny, harrowed, and debating whether to eat or not to eat.”

The show follows a grief-stricken vegan seeking revenge for the death of a pig, who ultimately settles on staging a play as his method of vengeance, twisting Shakespeare’s Hamlet into what Hotter Project describe as a sordid wrestle between a vegan and a sausage-lover, exploring meat, madness and the power of shame.

About Hotter Project

Hotter Project is the creation of theatre-making duo of Mary Higgins and Ell Potter, known for blending verbatim theatre, clowning and cabaret. The pair first debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe with HOTTER in 2017, which enjoyed three sell-out runs and a UK tour, and have since created FITTER and The Last Show Before We Die.

They returned to this year’s Fringe with the newly devised HAM, and appeared at this year’s Shedinburgh season with a compilation performance of their earlier work.
