Following its premiere at Edinburgh Fringe this summer, ROLEPLAY will transfer to the Soho Theatre this Autumn. The one-woman comedy turned psychological thriller is written and performed by award-winning creative Hannah Reilly.
Francesca Moody Productions and Global Creatures have announced today that unflinching new play ROLEPLAY will arrive at the Soho Theatre later this year following its world premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe this August.
The play follows a struggling feminist podcaster who attempts to seek fame with a drastic rebrand, but quickly loses herself in the performance. It’s a razor-sharp interrogation of womanhood and the commodification of feminism in the age of influencer culture and the monetisation of identity.
Hannah Reilly said “If there’s one thing that the response so far to our show has taught me, it’s that there’s no better way to promote work that explores the dubious powers of provocative, sex-forward marketing than by using the dubious powers of provocative, sex-forward marketing. The creative team behind ROLEPLAY
ROLEPLAY is written and performed by Hannah Reilly. The award-winning creative has worked across both stage and screen. She is the creator, co-writer and lyricist of The Deb which has also been adapted into a feature film. Other credits include TV show Growing Up Gracefully and Sheilas.
The new play is directed by award-winning director Paige Rattray, whose credits include Fangirls at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre in 2024, as well as The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Lifespan of a Fact, Blithe Spirit, Death of a Salesman and The Beauty Queen of Leenane.
