This spellbinding revival follows the tragic fortunes of Juliet (Ava Honey, making her professional debut) and Romeo (Blossom Timothy, Globe Players) as they battle against the will of their families to be together.
In a notable reimagining, Romeo is played as a female character, a choice director James Haddrell describes not as radical but as a way of foregrounding the play’s true subject: “a universal story about parents who have lost touch with their children, and the extremes of emotion we can feel when we’re young.“
Directed by Greenwich Theatre Artistic Director James Haddrell, the production also stars Charlotte Harwood (Loserville), Nikita Johal (Spring Awakening), Matt Penson (Julius Caesar) and actor and Musical Director James Aldred (The Crown, Netflix).
