Fans of Jason Robert Brown’s musical The Last Five Years are in for a treat!

A live cast recording of the show at the London Palladium last month starring Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen) and Rachel Zegler (Evita) is set for release on 20 April 2026.

The sold-out 25th anniversary concert of The Last Five Years at the Palladium ran from 24 to 29 March 2026, featuring powerhouse performances from Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award winner Ben Platt as Jamie, and Golden Globe winner Rachel Zegler as Cathy.

A surprise announcement

The news about the album was broken in spectacular fashion during the curtain call of the show’s North American leg at the Hollywood Bowl. Platt and Zegler shared the update with the LA audience, revealing that the album – titled “The Last Five Years (25th Anniversary Live at the London Palladium)” is scheduled for a global digital release by Atlantic Records on 20 April.

Following the West End and LA dates, the production moves to New York for two final, sold-out performances at Radio City Music Hall on 6 and 7 April 2026.

About the production

Since its 2001 premiere, The Last Five Years has become a modern musical classic, famous for its innovative structure: Jamie tells his story chronologically, while Cathy tells hers in reverse.

The special anniversary staging in London was presented by Lambert Jackson, with the composer himself, Jason Robert Brown, serving as director and conductor.

Ben Platt in London

London can’t get enough of Ben Platt this year, as the TV and stage star is also set to perform in a new musical.

Midnight at the Never Get is premiering at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London from 11 July to 12 September 2026.

Written by Golden Globe and Grammy Award winner and Oscar nominee Mark Sonnenblick, and directed by Tony Award winner David Cromer (The Band’s Visit), the show is a musical love story set against a world that refuses to let it exist.
