Production photos have been released of the RSC’s production of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui starring Mark Gatiss.
Seán Linnen directs Bertolt Brecht’s political comedy classic, in a new version by Stephen Sharkey, with music by Placebo. The production is now playing at the RSC’s Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon until 30 May 2026.
The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui stars two-time Olivier Award-winner Mark Gatiss (Inside No.9) in the title role of the notorious gangster and small-time crook Arturo Ui, joined by BAFTA Award-winner Mawaan Rizwan (Juice, The Rocky Horror Show) as violent gang member Giri, and double Olivier Award-winner Janie Dee (Follies) as Betty Dullfeet.

The production also features Kadiff Kirwan (Intimate Apparel) as Arturo Ui’s faithful henchman Roma, Christopher Godwin (Noises Off) as Dogsborough and LJ Parkinson (Cowbois) in the role of master manipulator Givola.
The cast is completed by Joe Alessi as Butcher/Dullfeet/Prosecution, Valerie Antwi as Ensemble/Swing, Mark Hammersley as Ensemble/Swing, Rebekah Hinds as Flake/Dockdaisy, Cameron Johnson as Mulberry/Jimmy Greenwool/The Judge, Samuel Nunes de Souza as Ensemble, Mahesh Parmar as Dogsborough’s Son/Fish/Inna, Santino Smith as Sheet/Hook, and Amanda Wilkin as Clark/Ragg/The Woman.
