The Story
For more than two centuries, the Owens women have been feared, blamed, and whispered about in their small Massachusetts town.
Orphaned as children and raised by their eccentric aunts, sisters Sally and Gillian Owens grow up determined to escape the ancestral curse they inherited. Choosing opposite paths, the sisters try to outrun their past, until love, loss, and long-buried secrets pull them back together.
Forced to confront their family legacy, Sally and Gillian must decide whether the past can be overcome – and how much they are willing to risk for love.
Acclaimed Creative Team
Practical Magic is based on the bestselling 1995 novel by Alice Hoffman and the 1998 Warner Bros. motion picture starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.
The production marks a major collaboration between legendary singer-songwriter Norah Jones and Grammy-nominee Gregg Wattenberg, following their work writing “Summertime Blue”, with the pair writing a score of original songs for the musical.
Directing the production is Maria Friedman, fresh from her critically acclaimed, Tony Award-winning success with Merrily We Roll Along in London and on Broadway.
