The Donmar Warehouse in London has announced the world premiere of new play Mass by Fran Kranz.
Directed by Carrie Cracknell (Arcadia, The Grapes of Wrath), Mass will run at the Donmar Warehouse from 18 April to 6 June 2026.
The play is Fran Kranz’s debut stage drama, and is adapted from his acclaimed screenplay. The film of Mass premiered in 2021 at the Sundance Film Festival and went on to win the Robert Altman Award and an Independent Spirit Award nomination.

The acclaimed cast of Mass includes:
- Adeel Akhtar (Sherwood) as Jay
- Amari Bacchus (The Gentlemen) as Carlos
- Monica Dolan (Sherwood) as Linda
- Paul Hilton (A Christmas Carol) as Richard
- Lyndsey Marshal (The Choral) as Gail
- Rochelle Rose (Black Power Desk) as Kendra
- Susie Trayling (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) as Judy
Billed as cathartic and profoundly moving, Mass is set in a quiet room of an Episcopal church. Two couples meet to have a conversation no parent should ever have to face. As defences fall away and memories surface, they attempt to reach across a divide carved by violence.
Fran Kranz is also an actor, with theatre credits including Good Night, and Good Luck on Broadway, and TV and film work including Julia, The Loudest Voice, The Cabin in the Woods, and Training Day.
Joining Carrie Cracknell in the creative team are Set and Costume Designer Anna Yates, Lighting Designer Guy Hoare, Sound Designer Donato Wharton, Composer Stuart Earl, and Casting Director Lotte Hines CDG.
