A number of high-profile West End shows are set to close in London in the next few months.
It’s a busy time of year for the West End, with Christmas shows closing, and a new slate of big musicals and star-studded plays opening for the spring season.
But there are also a number of West End shows that are set to leave London this winter.

Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical
Closes: 7 February 2026
The first major show to leave London in 2026 is the high-octane Live Aid musical Just For One Day.
After a record-breaking journey from The Old Vic to the West End, the production will play its final London performance at the Shaftesbury Theatre on 7 February 2026.
The closure comes as the Shaftesbury Theatre prepares for a scheduled period of refurbishment.
Since opening in May 2025, the show has captivated audiences with its emotionally volcanic retelling of the 1985 global concert event. Featuring hits from Queen, David Bowie, U2, and Elton John, Just For One Day is directed by Luke Sheppard (& Juliet) and stars Craige Els as the indomitable Bob Geldof.
The production has been praised for balancing nostalgic stadium-rock energy with a gritty, behind-the-scenes look at the logistical miracle that was Live Aid.

Major West End musical MJ The Musical will officially conclude its run at the Prince Edward Theatre in London on 28 February 2026.
The production, which centres on the creative process behind Michael Jackson’s 1992 Dangerous World Tour, has been a high-voltage addition to London theatre since it opened in March 2024.
Acclaimed for its gravity-defying choreography by Royal Ballet Associate Artist Christopher Wheeldon and a setlist of over 25 iconic Michael Jackson hits, including Billie Jean, Beat It and Thriller, the show will have completed a successful two-year residency by the time it takes its final bow.
Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Lynn Nottage, the London production currently stars Jamaal Fields-Green, who made history as the first performer to play the title role on Broadway, the US Tour, and the West End.

Woman in Mind starring Sheridan Smith
Closes: 28 February 2026
The current acclaimed revival of Alan Ayckbourn’s Woman in Mind starring Sheridan Smith is set to conclude its strictly limited West End engagement at the Duke of York’s Theatre on 28 February 2026.
Directed by Michael Longhurst, multi-award winner Sheridan Smith is joined by comedian Romesh Ranganathan in the comedy drama, marking his theatrical debut.
Reviews have been glowing for the show – and especially for Sheridan Smith’s performance, drawing praise for its inventive staging and Smith’s “magnetic” performance as Susan, a woman whose life splits into two after a minor garden accident. While the real world offers a dull marriage and a silent son, her fantasy world provides a “Technicolor” family that slowly begins to spiral out of control.
Fans who miss the London performances can catch the show in Sunderland from 4 to 7 March, and Glasgow from 10 to 14 March.

Adding to the list of major departures this spring is the “electrifying” revival of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons.
Led by Hollywood heavyweight Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), the production is scheduled to complete its strictly limited engagement at the Wyndham’s Theatre in London on 7 March 2026.
Directed by the visionary Ivo van Hove, the production has been one of the most sought-after tickets of the season. Cranston, returning to the West End for the first time since his Olivier-winning turn in Network, stars as Joe Keller, a man whose past decisions during World War II come back to haunt his family in a devastating moral reckoning.
The production has been a critical triumph, with critics heaping praise on the powerhouse performances from Cranston, and his co-stars including Marianne Jean-Baptiste as Kate Keller, Paapa Essiedu as Chris Keller, Tom Glynn-Carney as George Deever and Hayley Squires as Ann Deever.
With its final performance set for early March, theatregoers have only a few weeks left to see this visceral interpretation of Miller’s 1947 classic.

Back to the Future The Musical
Closes: 12 April 2026
After firing up its flux capacitor for over 1,900 performances, Back to the Future The Musical is officially departing the West End’s Adelphi Theatre, with the Olivier Award-winning production taking its final bow on 12 April 2026.
Since its arrival in London in 2021, the show has become a staple of theatreland, entertaining over two million theatregoers with its high-octane special effects and the most famous car in theatre history. While the news marks the end of a five-year residency in London, it isn’t “game over” for Marty and Doc, as the show is touring from October.
Back to the Future in London stars Caden Brauch as Marty McFly, with Cory English as Doctor Emmett Brown, Maddie Grace Jepson as Lorraine Baines, Orlando Gibbs as George McFly, C.J. Borger as Goldie Wilson and Marvin Berry, Alex Runicles as Biff Tannen, Talia Palamathanan as Jennifer Parker, Lee Ormsby as Alternate Doctor Emmett Brown and Strickland, Gracie Caine as Linda McFly, and Liam McHugh as Dave McFly. At select performances Oliver Halford plays the role of Marty McFly.
For those looking to catch the “electrifying” spectacle one last time in its original London home, tickets are currently available through to the end of the run.

Starlight Express
Closes: 3 May 2026
There are also only a few months remaining to catch the multi-million-pound London production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s much-loved musical Starlight Express.
The show is now playing its final performances at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, in the purpose-built Starlight Auditorium, where a cast of over 40 performers fully immerse the audience by whizzing around and above them on roller-skates.
Directed by Luke Sheppard (Paddington The Musical), Starlight Express is an unforgettable theatrical journey as Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical is reimagined for a whole new generation.
