Singer, songwriter and West End actor Lily Allen is in talks to turn her acclaimed new album West End Girl into a stage musical, or play-with-music.
Lily confirmed to US talk show host Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that West End Girl is being turned into a stage show, and saying that, “The ink is not dry … But, you know, I’m definitely having some conversations with people about it. It’s very exciting.”
West End Girl is Lily Allen’s first album since 2018, and has proved a worldwide hit and much-talked-about album, reaching No. 2 in the UK charts.
Lily Allen is performing the album in full in a now sold-out run of UK theatres in 2026, including two nights at the London Palladium.
The British pop star’s 2026 dates mark her first live music tour in seven years and accompanies her fifth studio album, West End Girl, which has been hailed as one of her most personal and critically acclaimed releases yet.
West End Girl is a through-told story depicting a marriage that is unravelling, inspired by her marriage to US actor and Stranger Things star David Harbour. The album explores heartbreak, reinvention, and rediscovery, themes Allen says were born from “life falling apart”.
Lily Allen is also appearing on Saturday Night Live this weekend in the US, and will tour the United States in April 2026.

West End Girl has been met with widespread critical praise since its release last month. In a five-star review, The Independent praised Allen’s “intense story-driven format” and called the album “a return to sharp, witty, and clear-eyed songwriting.” The album has also picked up praise, and four star reviews, from publications including the Guardian, NME and Rolling Stone.
Lily Allen has also forged an acting career, with West End performances in 2:22 A Ghost Story, and The Pillowman. She recently starred in Matthew Dunster’s new production of Hedda, based on Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, at Theatre Royal Bath.
