Dog Man: The Musical, the hit family show based on Dav Pilkey’s worldwide bestselling Dog Man series, is coming to London
The show will play a limited run next summer at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre from 30 July to 16 August 2026.
This riotously funny new stage production promises crime-fighting chaos, big-hearted storytelling, and plenty of tail-wagging fun. Dav Pilkey, also the creator of Captain Underpants and Cat Kid Comic Club, brings his signature humour and heart to this high-energy musical adaptation.
Written by Kevin Del Aguila and Brad Alexander, and directed and choreographed by Jen Wineman, the production is suitable for ages 5 and up.
The creative team includes set design by Timothy R Mackabee, costume design by Heidi Leigh Hanson, lighting design by David Lander, sound design by Emma Wilk, orchestrations by Lloyd Kikoler and musical direction by Paul Herbert.

The show follows best friends George and Harold as they set out to create a musical about their favourite hero, Dog Man — the part-dog, part-man crime-fighter who is “ALL HERO!”. As the boys race to finish their show before lunchtime, Dog Man battles Flippy the cyborg fish, an army of Beasty Buildings, and the villainous Petey, in a fast and funny adventure filled with Dav Pilkey’s trademark humour and heart.
The musical has won praise in the US, with The New York Times noting: “You have to love a family show that makes adults laugh, too,” while the Los Angeles Times celebrated a production that “has doubled down on the empathy, creativity, friendship and warmth that underpin the material.”
A colourful, comic-book-style romp bursting with silliness and spirit, Dog Man: The Musical promises an ideal introduction to theatre for young audiences — and plenty of joy for the grown-ups who bring them.
