Craige Els is to join the cast of the RSC’s production of Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical.
Craige Els has been cast as the new Miss Trunchbull in the RSC’s acclaimed production of Matilda The Musical at the Cambridge Theatre.
He will join the company from September, alongside James Clyde as Mr Wormwood, Haley Flaherty as Miss Honey and Kay Murphy as Mrs Wormwood, plus Matilda Shapland, Violet Tucker, Tasha Chapple and Lottie Sicilia sharing the role of Matilda.
Craige’s previous stage credits include Timon of Athens, Antigone and The Cherry Orchard at the National Theatre and Mamma Mia! (Novello), Oklahoma! (Chichester Festival Theatre), The New Yorkers (Sadler’s Wells), Never Forget (West End and Tour) and Spamalot (West End). TV credits include Ripper Street, The Bletchley Circle and Call The Midwife.
Matilda has been seen by one and a half million people since it transferred in to the West End in October 2011.
The show is written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, and directed by Matthew Warchus.
