The hit West End production of Next to Normal, starring Caissie Levy and Jamie Parker, has two important updates this week.
Next to Normal played at the Wyndham’s Theatre in the West End from 18 June to 21 September 2024, scoring great reviews from the critics.
The show was also filmed at the Wyndham’s Theatre in September 2024, and earlier this month that pro-shot version premiered on PBS in America.
It has now been confirmed that Next to Normal will also get a UK cinema release, on 11 and 14 September 2025. Theatre chains including Showcase Cinemas have already started to promote the film.
The cinema release will be at Vue, Cineworld and Independent Cinema screens. You can see a list of cinemas and film times here, with more to be added.
Locations of screenings at Independent Cinemas include Bluewater, Reading, Corby, Peterborough, Coventry, Leicester, Grantham, Boston, Bristol, Dudley, Nottingham, Derby, Woodhall Spa, Worksop, Cardiff and Doncaster.
Next to Normal director Michael Longhurst said in a statement: “After the absolutely astonishing reaction to its US release, I’m so excited that UK audiences will now be able to experience the raw power of Next to Normal and the heartbreaking detail of those incredible performances in close up, on the big screen.”

In other news this week, the Next to Normal West End cast recording is set to be released by Ghostlight Records on 30 May 2025.
A new Spotify listing for Next to Normal confirmed the news. Also get a first-listen of Jack Wolfe singing “I’m Alive” from the show.
The show starred Grammy Award nominee Caissie Levy (Frozen) as Diana, Olivier Award winner and BAFTA nominee Eleanor Worthington-Cox (Matilda The Musical) as Natalie, Olivier Awards 2024 nominee Jack Wolfe (The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry The Musical) as Gabe, Olivier Award winner and Tony Award nominee Jamie Parker (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The History Boys) as Dan, What’s On Stage Award winner Trevor Dion Nicholas (Disney’s Hercules, Hamilton) as Dr Madden/Dr Fine, and Jack Ofrecio (From Here To Eternity) as Henry.
The show’s standbys were Carolyn Maitland, Ben Heathcote, Lizzy Parker and Jake Reynolds.
Directed by Michael Longhurst, Next to Normal is written by Tony, Emmy and Grammy Award-winning composer Tom Kitt and Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning writer Brian Yorkey.
The creative team also included Musical Supervisor Nigel Lilley; Designer Chloe Lamford; Movement, Choreography and Additional Direction Ann Yee; Lighting Designer Lee Curran; Sound Designer Tony Gayle; Video Designer Tal Rosner; Casting Director Anna Cooper CDG, Musical Director Nick Barstow and Production Manager Chris Hay.
Next to Normal originally premiered on Broadway in 2010, and scored three Tony Awards, including Best Original Score, plus won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The musical was also a critical smash-hit when it premiered at the Donmar Warehouse, and is an intimate exploration of family and illness, loss and grief, centred on Diana Goodman, a suburban wife and mother living with bipolar disorder and haunted by her past.
