The acclaimed Broadway and West End production of To Kill a Mockingbird has announced a major new UK and Ireland tour.

Aaron Sorkin’s Tony Award winning adaptation of Harper Lee’s novel To Kill A Mockingbird, directed by Bartlett Sher (Kiss Me Kate, My Fair Lady, The King and I), is heading out on tour for the first time.

The tour starts at Leeds Playhouse on 8 September 2025, and then visits Nottingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bath, Cardiff, Salford, Sheffield, Dublin, Belfast, Plymouth, Canterbury, Southampton, Birmingham, Newcastle, Norwich, Liverpool, and Milton Keynes, with further dates to be announced.

The production’s last outing in the West End ended in May 2023, and saw American film star Matthew Modine lead the 32-strong cast as Atticus Finch. Casting for the tour is also to be announced.

Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, published in 1960, explores racial injustice in America and features one of the most iconic characters in literary history – small-town lawyer Atticus Finch – famously portrayed on screen by Gregory Peck.

The West End run of the show proved a huge hit with audiences, and the Broadway production became the most successful play ever on Broadway.

Aaron Sorkin is a multi-award-winning stage and screen writer. He is perhaps best known as the creator and screenwriter of hit TV series The West Wing, and as the screenwriter for The Social Network, for which he received an Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA and Writers’ Guild Award. He is also the writer-creator of The Newsroom and Academy Award-winning film A Few Good Men.

Bartlett Sher spent over ten years as Director of New York’s Lincoln Centre Theater. His acclaimed productions include My Fair LadyThe King and I, South Pacific and last summer’s London hit, a revival of Kiss Me, Kate at the Barbican Theatre. His forthcoming productions include the new Dolly Parton show Dolly: An Original Musical; and a stage adaptation of hit movie La La Land, and a rumoured West End transfer for his production of Camelot.

The tour is produced by Jonathan Church Theatre Productions.
