Beverley Knight to leave The Bodyguard, open in Memphis The Musical

Beverley Knight, star of West End musical The Bodyguard at the Adelphi Theatre, is to leave the show.

The British soul singer will leave the musical on 31 May 2014 before starting work on a new West End production of hit Broadway show Memphis, which plays at the Shaftesbury Theatre from 9 October 2014.

Beverley Knight is a singer, songwriter and record producer. She has sold over a million albums in the UK, and has won three MOBO Awards and an Outstanding Achievement Award at the Urban Music Awards. In 2007 she was awarded an MBE for her services to music and charity, is currently working on her eighth studio album.

The hit West End musical The Bodyguar, directed by Thea Sharrock, is based on Lawrence Kasdan’s 1992 Oscar nominated movie, and features the songs of Whitney Houston.

Beverly Knight is currently starring in the show as Rachel Marron, alongside Tristan Gemmill as Rachel’s bodyguard, Frank Farmer.
