The Menier Chocolate Factory has revealed final casting for its forthcoming production of The Cabinet Minister, adapted by and starring Olivier Award-winner Nancy Carroll (After the Dance, The Gathering Storm).
Arthur Wing Pinero’s comedy will see Sara Crowe (Hay Fever, Private Lives, Skins) join the cast as Dowager Countess of Dumdurris.
The play also stars Dillie Keane (Fascinating Aïda) as Lady Macphail, George Blagden (Company) as Valentine White, Joe Edgar (Just For One Day) as Brook Twombley, Phoebe Fildes (Assassins) as Fanny Lacklustre, Rosalind Forbes (In Clay) as Imogen Twombley, Dom Hodson (Bleak Expectations) as Keith Lord Drumdurris, Nicholas Rowe (Tammy Faye) as the Right Honourable Sir Julian Twombley, Laurence Ubong Williams (The Motive and the Cue) as Mr Bernard Lacklustre and Mr Melting, Romaya Weaver as Lady Effie Vibart and Matthew Woodyatt (A Song of Songs) as Sir Colin Macphail of Ballocheevin.

Arthur Wing Pinero’s classic farce is a story of marriage, blackmail and class, centred on the troubles of Sir Julian Twombley: his wife and son have run up massive debts and his political reputation is in the balance. The House of Commons is far from a safe space for him and the newspapers are sniffing blood. Can he save face and hang on to his sanity?
Directed by Paul Foster (White Christmas, Gypsy), the creative team also includes Set & Costume Designer Janet Bird, Sound Designer George Dennis, Composer & Musical Supervisor Sarah Travis, and Movement Director Joanna Goodwin.
Currently playing at the Menier Chocolate Factory is Stephen Schwartz musical The Baker’s Wife starring Lucie Jones and Clive Rowe until 14 September 2024. This Christmas will see the Menier bring hit Broadway musical The Producers back to London, directed by Patrick Marber.
The Cabinet Minister is running at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 21 September to 16 November 2024.
