The new behind-the-scenes images from rehearsals feature the Donmar Warehouse cast of the show, who are transferring the sold-out musical to the West End’s Wyndham’s Theatre later this week.
Next to Normal stars Grammy Award nominee Caissie Levy (Frozen) as Diana, Olivier Award winner and BAFTA nominee Eleanor Worthington-Cox (Matilda The Musical) as Natalie, Olivier Awards 2024 nominee Jack Wolfe (Pinocchio) as Gabe, Olivier Award winner and Tony Award nominee Jamie Parker (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The History Boys) as Dan, What’s On Stage Award winner Trevor Dion Nicholas (Hamilton) as Dr Madden/Dr Fine, and Jack Ofrecio (From Here To Eternity) as Henry.
The show’s standbys are Carolyn Maitland, Ben Heathcote, Lizzy Parker and Jake Reynolds.
Directed by Michael Longhurst, Next to Normal is written by Tony, Emmy and Grammy Award-winning composer Tom Kitt and Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning writer Brian Yorkey.
The creative team also includes Musical Supervisor Nigel Lilley; Designer Chloe Lamford; Movement, Choreography and Additional Direction Ann Yee; Lighting Designer Lee Curran; Sound Designer Tony Gayle; Video Designer Tal Rosner; Casting Director Anna Cooper CDG, Musical Director Nick Barstow and Production Manager Chris Hay.
Next to Normal originally premiered on Broadway in 2010, and scored three Tony Awards, including Best Original Score, plus won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The musical was also a critical smash-hit when it premiered at the Donmar Warehouse, and is an intimate exploration of family and illness, loss and grief, centred on Diana Goodman, a suburban wife and mother living with bipolar disorder and haunted by her past.
Next To Normal is playing at the Wyndham’s Theatre from 18 June to 21 September 2024.
