Manga-to-musical Your Lie in April is coming to London’s Harold Pinter Theatre this summer 2024.
The West End run follows an acclaimed, sold-out concert performance of the show last month at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
Your Lie in April will play 12 weeks at the West End’s Harold Pinter Theatre from 28 June to 21 September 2024.
The cast and creative team for the show is to be announced.
April’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane run starred Zheng Xi Yong (Spring Awakening) as Kōsei Arima and Rumi Sutton (Hex) as Kaori Miyazono, alongside Rachel Clare Chan (Death Note), Joanna Ampil (Miss Saigon) and Dean John-Wilson (Death Note). Also in the cast were Eu Jin Hwang, Julie Yammanee, Jade Albertsen, Lauren Chia, Hannah Yun Chamberlain, Imogen Rose Hart, Yuki Abe, Chris Fung, Ernest Stroud, JoJo Meredith, Michael Lin, Samuel How, Jason Yang-Westland.
The concert production was directed and choreographed by Nick Winston (Bonnie & Clyde, Burlesque The Musical).
Your Lie in April is adapted from Naoshi Arakawa’s hugely successful manga, and boasts music by Frank Wildhorn (Bonnie and Clyde, Death Note, Jekyll and Hyde), lyrics by Carly Robyn Green and Tracy Miller, a Japanese book by Riko Sakaguchi, and English book by Rinne B Groff.
The show centres on the story of Kōsei Arima, a young piano prodigy who is unable to play following his mother’s death. He strikes a friendship with violinist Kaori Miyazono and she slowly encourages him to perform again.
Also coming back to London this summer, and also to the Harold Pinter Theatre, is family show Blippi: The Wonderful World Tour, playing from 3 July to 20 September 2024.
