Two forthcoming theatre awards ceremonies have announced their hosts, with The Stage Awards and Whatsonstage Awards both revealing who will be on hosting duties this year.

The Stage Debut Awards 2024

The Stage Awards 2024 will see actors Isobel Thom and Elan Davies host the awards, which are taking place on 29 January 2024 at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

They both won the Best Performer in a Play award at last year’s The Stage Debut Awards, Isobel Thom for I, Joan at Shakespeare’s Globe, and Elan Davies for Imrie at Sherman Theatre Cardiff.

Isobel Thom said in a statement: “I’m so thrilled to be hosting The Stage Awards alongside Elan. It’s incredibly exciting to be acknowledging the brilliant people and organisations that make our theatre so exceptional.”

Elan Davies said: “It is a complete honour and a huge ‘pinch me’ moment to be co-hosting The Stage Awards this year. The Stage Debut Awards 2023 was such a wonderful experience for me and I truly appreciate and admire all the recognition that The Stage gives to all aspects of theatre. As a young mixed-race Welsh woman, I am so excited to be a part of celebrating all of the amazing achievements in theatre last year alongside the sensational Isobel Thom.”

Nominations for the 2024 awards were announced last month. The annual awards first took place in 2010, and recognise excellence in British theatre.

Whatsonstage Awards 2024

The Whatsonstage Awards 2024 will be hosted by actors Melanie La Barrie (Hadestown, & Juliet) and Bonnie Langford (Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends), and take place on 11 February 2024 at the London Palladium.

Melanie La Barrie said in a statement: “I’m thrilled to be involved with the WhatsOnStage Awards this year. I have a long and wonderful history with this ceremony and to take on this new role is very exciting. I look forward to being a part of this extraordinary landmark event in our theatrical calendar. It’s going to be a stellar evening.”

Bonnie Langford said: “I am thrilled to be hosting the 24th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards, an exciting event in the theatrical calendar! I want to wish all the nominees the best of luck and I cannot wait to celebrate with you all on 11 February at The London Palladium.”

Nominations for the 2024 awards were announced last month. Now in their 24th year, the WhatsOnStage Awards are decided by theatregoers nominating and then voting for their favourite shows and people.
