Behind-the-scenes photos are in, for rehearsals of the The Wizard of Oz UK & Ireland tour, which starts next week in Liverpool.
Following the production’s smash-hit run this summer at the London Palladium, The Wizard of Oz Tour kicks off at the Liverpool Empire next week, on 13 December, playing to 7 January 2024.
The show then travels to Oxford, Southampton, Hull, Sheffield, Canterbury, Edinburgh, Southend, Norwich, Llandudno, London’s New Wimbledon Theatre, Bradford, Plymouth, Bristol, Nottingham, Newcastle, Manchester, Woking, Belfast, Dublin, Birmingham, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Milton Keynes, Cardiff, Wolverhampton and Sunderland.
The cast includes Aviva Tulley (Book of Mormon) as Dorothy; JLS star Aston Merrygold as The Tin Man (Liverpool only); Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner and Dancing on Ice finalist, The Vivienne, sharing the role of The Wicked Witch of the West; Gary Wilmot (Wicked), Allan Stewart (Stones in His Pockets) and Alex Bourne (Annie, Hairspray) sharing the role of The Wizard; Benjamin Yates (ITV’s Emmerdale; Jersey Boys) as The Scarecrow; Nic Greenshields (Love Never Dies, Les Misérables) as The Cowardly Lion, with Jason Manford as The Cowardly Lion in Manchester only; Emily Bull (9 to 5, Matilda) as Glinda The Good Witch; and Abigail Matthews (Bleak Expectations, War Horse) as Toto.
The company is completed by David Burrows, Adam Craig, Cole Dunn, Tyler Ephraim, Olivia Kate Holding, Thomas Kalek, Sadie Levett, Kelsie-Rae Marshall, Martin McCarthy, Rose Ouellette, Fanja Parent, Alexandra Regan, Nathan Routledge and Sydney Spencer.

The Wizard of Oz features the iconic original score from the Oscar-winning MGM film, including Over The Rainbow, Follow The Yellow Brick Road and We’re Off To See the Wizard, with additional songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
