Behind-the-scenes rehearsal photos have come in for the new Danny Boyle show Free Your Mind by Factory International, coming to Aviva Studios in Manchester.

Free Your Mind is a massive new dance, music and visual effects immersive experience inspired by The Matrix movies, and will be the opening show this month at the brand new £186m cultural venue Aviva Studios in Manchester.

The show is directed by award-winning film and stage director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Frankenstein), with Boyle’s vision to bring together spectacular visual effects, professional dancers and actors, plus local participants to recreate scenes from the Matrix movies.

Choreography is by Kenrick “H20” Sandy, with music by Michael “Mikey J” Asante, stage sculptures by the designer Es Devlin, and spoken words by playwright and poet Sabrina Mahfouz.

Factory International is the organisation that runs and programmes Manchester International Festival and the new Aviva Studios venue in Manchester. Factory International plans to commission and present a year-round programme of original creative work, music and special events at its new venue, online, and internationally through its network of co-commissioners and partners. 

Free Your Mind will run from 13 October to 5 November 2023 at Factory International.
