Lizzie, along with her older sister Emma, maid Bridget, and neighbour Alice, bring to life the infamous story supported on stage by an all-female band.

Lizzie The Musical explores the life of Lizzie Borden, who was accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe in the late summer of 1892 in Fall River, Massachusetts. The musical delves into her complex psyche and speculates on the motivations she may have had: loss of inheritance, history of sexual abuse, oppression, and madness.

Lizzie to play Southwark Playhouse Elephant
A revival of punk rock musical Lizzie is coming to London this autumn 2023. Lizzie will play at Southwark Playhouse Elephant from 26 October to 2 December 2023. This new production was first announced last month, and premieres at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester this September (1 - 30 September 2023). The show is also heading out on tour, with dates including Dukes Lancaster (5 - 8 October 2023), Junction Goole (12 - 14 October 2023), Trinity Arts Centre (17 - 21 October 2023) and New Theatre Peterborough (6 - 16 December 2023). The show stars Maiya Quansah-Breed (Six The Musical, Rent) as Alice, who is also starring as Diana in Diana: The Musical at the Eventim Apollo this December; Lauren Drew (Six The Musical, Legally Blonde, The Voice) as Lizzie Borden; Shekinah McFarlane (Six The Musical, Parade, The Voice) as Emma; Mairi Barclay (Pippin, Mother Goose) as Bridget; and Ayesha Patel (Broken Wings) as cover Bridget and Emma, and Emma Louise Hoey (Club Mex) as cover Lizzie and Alice. The show originally premiered in New York in 2009, and a 2017 Danish production played Greenwich Theatre in London. Lizzie has music by Steven Cheslik-DeMeyer and Alan Stevens Hewitt, with lyrics by Cheslik-DeMeyer and Tim Maner, and a book by Tim Maner. This new production has direction and choreography by Hope Mill’s co-founder William Whelton, set and lighting design by Andrew Exeter, musical supervision by Katy Richardson, associate choreographer Yandass Ndlovu, and casting by Pearson Casting.
