Deadline has reported that Kristin Scott Thomas and Lily James are rumoured to be starring in new play Lyonesse by Penelope Skinner.
The play is rumoured to be hitting the West End’s Harold Pinter Theatre in Autumn 2023, directed by Ian Rickson.
Scott Thomas and Rickson would be reuniting following numerous past productions including Chekhov’s The Seagull at the Royal Court Theatre and on Broadway, for which she won a Best Actress Olivier Award, Electra at the Old Vic Theatre, and Harold Pinter’s Old Times.
Kristin and Lily would also be working together again, following movies Darkest Hour and Rebecca.
Penelope Skinner is one of Britain’s leading writing talents, winning the George Devine Award in 2011 for most promising playwright for The Village Bike at the Royal Court. Skinner’s other plays include Meek, Linda, The Ruins of Civilization, Fred’s Diner, and first play, Fucked.
It is believed that Lyonesse centres on Elaine (Kristin Scott Thomas), a reclusive, acclaimed actress who left public life under mysterious circumstances. Lily James plays Kate, a young film executive sent to mastermind Elaine’s big comeback.
Sonia Friedman Productions is believed to be producing the play.
We hope that this rumour, which first appeared in Deadline, is true – as it would be a West End hot ticket!
