★★★★ “A slick, wistful new musical” – i News
Graham Greene’s brilliant story, immortalised in Carol Reed’s classic film, is brought to life on stage in a new musical thriller premiering at the Menier Chocolate Factory this Summer.
Directed by multi award-winner Trevor Nunn (Les Miserables, Cats), The Third Man – A Musical Thriller has a standout writing team including music by five-time Oscar nominee and Emmy and BAFTA Award-winner George Fenton (Mrs Henderson Presents), a book by Oscar, Tony and Olivier Award winner Christopher Hampton (Les Liaisons Dangereuses, God of Carnage), and lyrics by Oscar, Tony and Olivier Award winner Don Black (Sunset Boulevard Tell Me on a Sunday).
This world premiere promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats as they are immersed into the world of The Third Man.
The cast of the show is led by Hollywood star Sam Underwood (Madame Secretary, Dexter, Homeland, Fear of the Walking Dead, The Following, Dynasty) as Holly Martins.
The Third Man – A Musical Thriller is playing to 9 September 2023 at the Menier Chocolate Factory London.
Post-war Vienna is the setting as Holly Martins arrives at the invitation of his friend and hero, Harry Lime, only to discover that Harry has been killed in a car accident. But nothing that he is told about what happened makes any sense. The tension mounts as Holly enters the world of black marketeers and military bureaucracy, culminating in a chase through the Viennese sewers, as Holly tries to discover what happened to Harry…and who is the third man?
