Zoe Birkett to star in The Bodyguard UK & Ireland Tour

West End star Zoe Birkett is set to return to the part of Rachel Marron in hit musical The Bodyguard.

Zoe will play the role when the current UK and Ireland tour visits the the Hawth Theatre, Crawley (24 – 29 July 2023), the Bournemouth Pavilion (7 – 12 August 2023), the Newcastle Theatre Royal (15 – 19 August 2023), the Cheltenham Everyman Theatre (21 –26 August 2023) and the Norwich Theatre Royal (28 August – 2 September 2023).

Zoe Birkett is currently playing the role of Kim in West End show The Great British Bake Off Musical at the Noël Coward Theatre, and her previous stage credits include Moulin Rouge the Musical at the Piccadilly Theatre, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Hair, Tommy, and Thriller Live.

Zoe is also well know as the sixteen year old who wowed audiences on the first ever series of ITV’s Pop Idol.

Currently playing Rachel Marron in the tour is Melody Thornton, who plays the part (evenings only) until the Bristol Hippodrome (17 – 22 July 2023). Casting following Zoe’s run in the show is to be announced.

The Bodyguard also stars Emmerdale and Hollyoaks actor Ayden Callaghan as Frank Farmer, with Emily-Mae as Nicki Marron, John Macaulay as Bill Devaney, Graham Elwell as Tony, James Groom as Sy Spector, Marios Nicolaides as Stalker and Fergal Coghlan as Ray Court.

The role of Fletcher will be shared by Kaylenn Aires Fonseca, Iesa Miller, Frankie Keita and Reneo Kusi-Appauh, and other cast include Alexandros Beshonges, Kayne Gordon, Jack Hardwick, Kalisha Johnson, James Lee Harris, Samantha Mbolekwa, Abbie Quinnen, Kellie Rhianne, Charlotte Scally, Yiota Theo and Marco Venturini.

Based on hit movie starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, the UK tour of The Bodyguard is directed by Thea Sharrock with book by Oscar winning Alex Dinelaris.
