Avril Freck to interview Lesley Manville, Sophie Thompson, Alison Steadman & Noma Dumezweni

New show Avril Freck: Notes on Love and being Alone is coming to London cabaret venue Crazy Coqs this Summer 2023.

Avril Freck (aka Fiona Lindsay) is settling in for a a series of evenings interviewing an incredible line-up of leading stage and screen actresses.

Lesley Manville, Sophie Thompson, Alison Steadman and Noma Dumezweni are all set to appear.

The evening begins with a discussion, with forays into music – and maybe even dancing, as the leading ladies chat about romance, being alone, and what they’ve learned about love through the roles that they’ve played.

Conversation with the star guest will be interspersed with selected songs and poetry performed live, curated music, serenades, and hot topics of conversation as picked by the audience.

Avril will be joined at each show by psychotherapist Sasha Bates, Singer and Musician Juliette Pochin and DJ Cookie, who will guide the audience through an exploration of the challenges and adventures of mid-life love, romance and facing yourself.

The stellar line-up includes Olivier Award winning, Oscar and BAFTA nominated, Lesley Manville best known for her roles in The Crown, Mum, Mrs Harris Goes to Paris, Secrets and Lies and Another Year.

Also, six-time Olivier Award nominee, Sophie Thompson, who won the 1999 Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for the London revival of Into the Woods. She is also widely celebrated for her screen credits including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Persuasion and Emma.

Olivier Award winning, BAFTA Nominated, actress Alison Steadman will also appear. She is best known for her on screen roles in Gavin and Stacey, Pride and Prejudice, Fat Friends as well as her stage credits including The Rise and Fall of Little Voice.

Finally, Noma Dumezweni will star, a two time Olivier Award winner known for her roles in A Raisin in the Sun and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. She most recently starred as Nora in A Doll’s House, Part 2 at the Donmar Warehouse. Screen credits include Mary Poppins Returns, Dirty Pretty Things and The Undoing.

Creator and Executive Producer Fiona Lindsay said in a press statement: “The entire evening will be a mix of conversation meets club night, meets a night out that feels like a night in – it’s for women who are hot (!) and men that want to be cool.  I’m really looking forward to chatting to our guests about romance, being alone, and what they’ve learned about love through the roles they’ve played.   It will be an immersive and participatory evening that leans strongly into women in their prime sharing their experience, focusing on joy and looking forward.”
