Casting has been announced for Women, Beware the Devil at the Almeida Theatre in London.
Nathan Armarkwei-Laryea (Spring Awakening, Almeida; Tartuffe, National Theatre), Leo Bill (The Duchess of Malfi, Almeida; Posh, Royal Court), Carly-Sophia Davies (Spring Awakening, Almeida), Lydia Leonard (Little Eyolf, Almeida; Oslo, National Theatre) and Alison Oliver (Dancing at Lughnasa, National Theatre) will star in the world premiere of Lulu Raczka’s Women, Beware the Devil.
Set in 1640’s England during the civil war, the play is billed as a “deadly new play… of treachery and trickery” from The Sunday Times Playwriting Award-winner Lulu Raczka (Antigone, Nothing), and runs from 11 February to 25 March 2023.
Almeida Artistic Director Rupert Goold (Tammy Faye, Patriots) directs. The creative team includes Miriam Buether (set), Evie Gurney (costume), Tim Lutkin (lighting), Adam Cork (sound and music), and Amy Ball (casting).
Up next at the Almeida is A Street Car Named Desire with Paul Mescal (Normal People) as Stanley, Lydia Wilson (Ripper Street) as Blanche, and Anjana Vasan (We Are Lady Parts) which runs from 10 December 2022 to 4 February 2023, followed by Women, Beware the Devil and then UK premiere of Broadway musical The Secret Life of Bees, running from 4 April to 27 May 2023.
