Hey Duggee The Live Theatre Show announces cast

Producers of Hey Duggee The Live Theatre Show have announced the full cast and creative team.

The CBeebies show is coming to the Royal Festival Hall in London from 14 December 2022 to 8 January 2023.

Hey Duggee will star Benedict Hastings (Zog, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, Wolf Hall) as the loveable TV character Duggee and the show’s narrator.

The Squirrels will be played by Jane Crawshaw as Norrie (Doctor Dolittle), Kaidyn Niall Hinds as Happy (Marty And The Party), Clarke Joseph-Edwards as Roly (The Very Hungry Caterpillar), Vinnie Monachello as Tag (Bedknobs And Broomsticks), and Sarah Palmer as Betty (Oi Frog & Friends! Live).

Joining them at the Clubhouse will be Lunga Anele-Skosana (The Witches) playing Mrs Weaver, Hennie, Chew Chew and more, with understudies including Charlie Daniells (His Dark Materials), Elliott Samuels and Shakira Alleyne.

Alongside the show’s run at the Royal Festival Hall, it will tour over 30 places across the UK.

This brand-new play is packed with non-stop fun, laughs, singing and dancing, with the smash hit CBeebies series brought to life through innovative puppetry and storytelling. Hey Duggee was the most streamed children’s show on BBC iPlayer in 2021 and is popular among both children and parents.

The show has been adapted for the stage by Vikki Stone and Matthew Xia, with Vikki as musical supervisor for the production and Matthew as director.

Completing the creative team are Puppet designer/puppetry director Yvonne Stone, puppet co-designer Daisy Beattie, lighting designer Ciarán Cunningham, set and costume designer Jacqueline Trousdale, projection designer George Reeve, sound designer Rob Bettle, choreographer Dannielle ‘Rhimes’ Lecointe and associate director Helena Middleton.
