Award-winning Israeli singer and actress Miri Mesika has performed a song from the forthcoming European premiere of David Yazbek and Itamar Moses’ musical The Band’s Visit at the Donmar Warehouse.
Winner of 10 Tony Awards on Broadway, the show will be directed by Donmar Warehouse Artistic Director Michael Longhurst, and starts performances next week on 26 September at the Donmar, running until 3 December 2022.
Miri sings the song “Omar Sharif” from the show, in which she plays Dina, a café owner in a desert town in Israel. When an Egyptian police band arrive lost, Dina forms a connection with the band’s conductor Tewfiq.
Miri has won the Israeli Female Singer of the Year award competition an impressive seven times, and is a judge on the Israeli version of American Idol,. She performs in The Band’s Visit alongside award-winning Israeli film, TV and stage actor Alon Moni Aboutboul.

The Band’s Visit is based on the screenplay by Eran Kolirin, and has music and lyrics by David Yazbek, and book by Itamar Moses.
