The new cast members of Matilda The Musical have started performances at the Cambridge Theatre in London, and the show has extended its run to December 2023.
Victoria Alsina, Laurel Sumberg and Heidi Williams have all joined the cast sharing the title role of Matilda, along with existing cast member Maisie Mardle. Also Lauren Byrne has joined as Miss Honey, and Rakesh Boury and Amy Ellen Richardson are playing Mr and Mrs Wormwood.
Remaining in the show are Elliot Harper as Miss Trunchbull and Landi Oshinowo as Mrs Phelps.
Felipe Bejarano, Angeline Bell, Oliver Bingham, Thea Bunting, Michael Gardiner, Aaron Jenkins, Sam Lathwood, Dianté Lodge, Kira McPherson, Alistair So and James Wolstenholme have also joined existing adult cast members Liberty Buckland, Kate Kenrick, Connor Lewis and Gemma Scholes.
The children’s cast includes Mia Atkinson, Leo Babet, Florence Burt, Poppy Caton, Zuri-Michel Charalambou, Brodie Edwards, Jude Farrant, Riotafari Gardner, Finley Hartlett, Lily Hanna, Tia Isaac, Miley Kayongo, Shayla McCormack, Isabelle Mullallay, Jasmine Nyenya, Raphaella Philbert, Jack Philpott, Riley Plummer, Jasmine Pottinger-Scott, Ashton Robertson, Leon Saunders, Andrei Shen-U Shen, Noah Swer-Fox and Lucia Wratten. Plus Kylan Denis continues as one of the actors who share the role of Bruce.
Matilda is in its tenth terrific year, and has also announced today that it is now booking to 17 December 2023.
Based on Roald Dahl’s much-loved book, Matilda The Musical is written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and developed and directed by Matthew Warchus. The show is designed by Rob Howell, with choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker and special effects and illusions by Paul Kieve.
A new film version of the stage show starring Emma Thompson and Andrea Riseborough comes to cinemas in the US on 2 December 2022, and it’s out on Netflix on 25 December 2022.
