David Mitchell recently starred in The Upstart Crow at the Apollo Theatre in London’s West End.
David Mitchell is a British comedian, actor, writer, and television personality. Along with Robert Webb, he is a member of the comic team Mitchell and Webb who are known for the Channel 4 series Peep Show.
Mitchell made his West End stage debut in 2020 playing Will Shakespeare in The Upstart Crow, and will once more don the bald wig and bardish coddling pouch in this West End revival. David originated the character of Will Shakespeare in Ben Elton’s much adored BBC sitcom The Upstart Crow.

David Mitchell is a frequent participant on British panel shows, being a team captain on Would I Lie to You?, the host of The Unbelievable Truth on BBC Radio 4, and the former host of The Bubble and Was It Something I Said?, as well as guesting on other panel shows including QI, The Big Fat Quiz of the Year, Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Have I Got News for You.
As a writer he has published his successful memoir Back Story; following by Thinking About It Only Makes It Worse: And Other Lessons from Modern Life and Dishonesty is the Second-Best Policy: And Other Rules to Live By. He writes regularly for The Guardian and the Observer.
