The producers of Sister Act The Musical, coming to the Eventim Apollo this Summer, have released a teaser video ahead of their casting announcement.
Ever since Whoopi Goldberg had to exit the show because of scheduling conflicts, there has been much speculation about who would take the top spot as nightclub singer turned Nun in hiding Delores Van Cartier.
Jennifer Saunders is already confirmed to play Mother Superior in the show, plus Clive Rowe as Lieutenant Eddie Souther.
But speculation grows – especially since this video has been released, that West End star and Queen of British soul music Beverley Knight will stars as Delores. Beverley is currently starring in new musical The Drifters Girl at the Garrick Theatre, but will leave that show on 2 July.
There is also speculation on who will play the baddie – Vince LaRocca. The role was played by Harvey Keitel in the film.
Based on the iconic smash-hit film starring Whoopi Goldberg and featuring music by Tony and 8-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Disney’s Aladdin, Enchanted), Sister Act is a fabulous comedy musical that mixes uplifting disco, funk, soul and Motown-inspired songs.
The show is directed by Bill Buckhurst, with choreography by Alistair David, set design by Morgan Large, lighting design by Tim Mitchell, sound design by Tom Marshall and musical supervision by Stephen Brooker. Casting is by Stuart Burt.
