Deborah Moggach’s best selling novel These Foolish Things, which became the hit movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, becomes a brand new stage play.
Moggach adapts her original novel, directed by Lucy Bailey, about seven British retirees who are outsourced from the Home Counties to a hotel in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, run by young entrepreneur Sonny Kapoor.
The original movie was a box-office smash, starring Dames Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and Penelope Wilton, plus Bill Nighy and Dev Patel.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel takes us on a journey to India with an eclectic group of British retirees as they embark on a new life. The luxury residence is far from the opulence they were promised, but as their lives begin to intertwine and they embrace the vibrancy of modern-day India, they are charmed in unexpected and life-changing ways.
