Hadestown in the UK & Ireland
This is the first time eight-time Tony award-winning musical Hadestown has toured the UK and Ireland, giving audiences outside London the chance to see the show for the very first time. The tour will stop at a total of 28 venues across the UK and Ireland, including Southend, Northampton, Woking, Oxford and Wimbledon.
The show’s writer Anaïs Mitchell wrote the music, lyrics and book, blending indie folk, blues and New Orleans jazz, while its director is Rachel Chavkin, a Tony Award-winning director and Mitchell’s longtime collaborator. Cast and full creative team for the UK and Ireland tour are yet to be announced.
A West End hit
More than eight years after its sold-out National Theatre engagement in 2018, Hadestown remains a hot ticket in London, and is now in its third year at the Lyric Theatre.
The touring production arrives with the same Tony and Grammy-winning pedigree that has made it a global phenomenon.
Book Hadestown tour tickets
Hadestown’s UK & Ireland tour opens at Curve Theatre, Leicester on 19 February 2027 and runs through to New Wimbledon Theatre in November 2027. With venues already confirmed as far ahead as autumn 2027, early booking is recommended to secure the best seats at your local venue.
Hadestown reimagines the prophet Orpheus as a songwriter working in a jazzy bar, and Eurydice as a down-and-out soul seeking refuge from the cold.
The pair fall in love, but as winter approaches and hardship sets in, Eurydice is tempted by an offer from Hades, god of the industrial underworld city of Hadestown. To save her, Orpheus must journey into the underworld himself — and it will take everything he’s got.
The show intertwines two mythic love stories: young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and King Hades and his wife Persephone, and blends American songwriting traditions from indie folk to blues and New Orleans-inspired jazz.
Hadestown won eight Tony Awards on Broadway, including Best Musical, and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album. This UK & Ireland tour is the show’s first, running alongside the continuing West End production at London’s Lyric Theatre.
