The Bridge Theatre has announced casting for its new production of Aeschylus’ The Oresteia this summer.
Written and directed by Simon Stone, The Oresteia is playing an 11-week season at the Bridge Theatre from 2 July to 19 September 2026.
The production will star Mary-Louise Parker, David Morrissey, Rosie Sheehy, Tom Glynn-Carney, Lloyd Hutchinson, John Macmillan and Archie Madekwe.

Simon Stone has brought together a top-tier cast for this new production of The Oresteia at the Bridge Theatre, including:
- Two-time Tony Award-winner Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds) as Montie
- TV and stage star David Morrissey (Sherwood, Daddy Issues, Gone, The Walking Dead) as Christopher
- Two-time Olivier Award nominee Rosie Sheehy (Guess How Much I Love You?, Machinal as Alice
- Tom Glynn-Carney (All My Sons, House of the Dragon) as Augie
- Lloyd Hutchinson (Dear England) as Melville
- John Macmillan (The Lady from the Sea, House of the Dragon) as Jerome
- Archie Madekwe (Saltburn) as Lorenzo

Australian director Simon Stone returns to the Bridge following his acclaimed 2025 staging of The Lady from the Sea.
For this production, Stone reunites with the same creative team, including: Set Design by Lizzie Clachan, Costume Design by Mel Page, Music by Stefan Gregory, Lighting by Nick Schlieper, and Casting by Jessica Ronane CDG
The production is being created in collaboration with Wouter van Ransbeek.

A modern vision
This landmark production is expected to bring a modern, visceral energy to the ancient text, raising timeless questions about morality and the true cost of war.
Written more than two millennia ago, The Oresteia is a gripping saga of revenge, power, and the birth of justice. The trilogy follows the bloody fallout of the Trojan War within the House of Atreus, centring on Orestes – a young man caught in a multi-generational cycle of violence as his parents, Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, wage a private war of vengeance.
Ivanov
The epic Greek tragedy takes the slot originally intended for Ivanov, which has been officially postponed to 2027 due to a scheduling conflict with lead actor Chris Pine.
The Oresteia follows the run of Sondheim’s Into the Woods, which ends in May 2026.
