The Rise and Fall of Little Voice Tickets London – National Theatre

Jim Cartwright’s modern classic The Rise and Fall of Little Voice returns to the National Theatre for the first time since its acclaimed 1992 premiere.

Directed by National Theatre Deputy Artistic Director Robert Hastie (Standing at the Sky’s Edge), this new production stars Francesca Mills (Hamlet, The Witcher: Blood Origin) as the shy young woman whose extraordinary singing voice transforms her life.

A Voice That Must Be Heard

Hidden away in a small Northern town, Little Voice escapes into her late father’s record collection, perfectly recreating the voices of legendary singers including Judy Garland, Billie Holiday and Shirley Bassey.

Funny, heartbreaking and deeply moving, The Rise and Fall of Little Voice remains one of Britain’s most beloved contemporary plays.

Book The Rise and Fall of Little Voice tickets now for performances at the Dorfman Theatre from 2 December 2026 to 3 January 2027.

What is The Rise and Fall of Little Voice about?

Little Voice lives quietly with her mother Mari, retreating into music and the comfort of her late father’s record collection.

While Mari chases excitement with flashy talent scout Ray Say, LV secretly perfects uncanny impressions of the world’s greatest singers.

But when her remarkable talent is suddenly thrust into the spotlight, Little Voice must decide whether she can finally step out from the shadows and find her own voice
