The Tony Awards has confirmed that this year’s ceremony will once again take place at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

The 79th annual Tony Awards will be broadcast by CBS in the US, live from Radio City Music Hall on Sunday 7 June 2026.

The awards will also be available to stream on Paramount+, although it is currently unclear whether UK subscribers will be able to watch the awards.

Why are the Tony Awards important? The Tony Awards remain one of the world’s most important theatre awards, alongside London’s Olivier Awards. Celebrating New York’s large and varied Broadway theatre district, the awards are a major influence on what people see, and how long a show will run in New York.

Another date for your diary: this year’s Tony Awards nominations will be announced on 5 May 2026.

The Tony Awards are produced by Tony Award Productions, a joint venture between the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League.

The eligibility cut-off date for this year’s awards is 26 April 2026, so expect a number of new shows to race to open ahead of the deadline.

Last year’s Tony Awards, hosted by Cynthia Erivo (Dracula) at Radio City Music Hall, saw Tony Award wins for Nicole Scherzinger, Jamie Lloyd, Darren Criss and more, with winning shows including Maybe Happy Ending and Sunset Boulevard.

London’s rival awards, the Olivier Awards, announced last week that they will be broadcast this year on the BBC. The Olivier Awards will take place on Sunday 12 April 2026 at the Royal Albert Hall.
