The winners have been announced for the 78th Annual Antoinette Perry Tony Awards 2025, presented by the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League.

Tony Award-winning shows and performers were announced at a ceremony on Sunday 8 June 2025 at Radio City Music Hall in New York, hosted by Cynthia Erivo (Dracula).

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard, directed by Jamie Lloyd, won Best Musical Revival, and Maybe Happy Ending won Best New Musical – scoring six awards overall, the most of any show, including Best Leading Actor in a Musical for Darren Criss.

Nicole Scherzinger also won Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her performance in Sunset Boulevard, beating stiff competition including Audra McDonald (Gypsy), with the London-to-Broadway production taking three awards overall.

Other high-profile winners included Sarah Snook winning Best Leading Actress in a Play for The Picture of Dorian Gray, which transferred to Broadway following a sold-out, Olivier Award-winning run in London.

Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Purpose won Best Play, and Jonathan Spector’s Eureka Day won Best Play Revival.

British stage star Jak Malone scored a Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical award for West End export Operation Mincemeat.

Other British shows to do well included Stranger Things: The First Shadow, scoring three awards, winning Best Scenic Design of a Play for Miriam Buether and 59, Best Lighting Design of a Play for Jon Clark, and Best Sound Design of a Play for Paul Arditti; plus a special award for its illusions and effects.

This year’s special awards included a Lifetime Achievement in Theatre Award for Harvey Fierstein.

The nominations were previously announced on 1 May 2025. 21 musicals and 21 plays were nominated for this year’s awards, with eligibility dates running from 26 April 2024 to 27 April 2025.
