The world premiere of Peter Quilter’s new play Allegra is touring the UK in 2026, ahead of a planned West End run.
The cast of Allegra will be led by stage and screen star Maureen Lipman (Coronation Street, Rose).
The UK tour of Allegra starts on 12 May 2026 at Brighton’s Theatre Royal and then visits High Wycombe, Aberdeen, Malvern, London Richmond, Windsor, Glasgow, and Bath. See all dates and booking info.
A West End run for Allegra is also planned.
The show is written by Tony and Olivier Award nominee Peter Quilter. Lipman and Quilter reunite following Maureen Lipman’s starring role in Rose, which played in the West End in 2023.
Quilter’s Judy Garland play End of the Rainbow is also set for a revival next year, playing Soho Theatre Walthamstow starring Jinkx Monsoon.
Allegra is the story of Allegra, who is full of life, joy and an irresistible urge to sing. She bursts into song at home, in the street, and even in shops and restaurants. Sometimes the music plays only in her imagination, but often it spills into real and disruptive performances that create chaos in her quiet village and amuse, confuse or exasperate everyone she meets.
Her brother Ronen and her carer Anna try to keep her exuberance under control while avoiding angry visits from the local policeman. Yet they face an impossible challenge. How can they protect Allegra without dimming the happiness and wonder that fill her heart and define her spirit?
The casting director for the show is Rob Kelly, with the wider cast and creative team to be announced.
