Production images have been released for Young Frankenstein The Musical at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre, starring Ore Oduba as Dr Frederick Frankenstein.
The musical comedy, based on Mel Brooks’ legendary 1974 film, began previews on 10 October and runs until 30 November 2025. It will then head to the Liverpool Playhouse for a limited festive season from 3 December 2025 to 3 January 2026 (with Liverpool casting to be announced).
Joining Ore Oduba in the cast are Jessica Martin (Spitting Image, Doctor Who) as Frau Blücher, Rhiannon Chesterman (I Wish You Well, West End) as Elizabeth Benning, Pete Gallagher (Fisherman’s Friends The Musical) as The Monster, Curtis Patrick (Pretty Woman) as Igor, Simeon Truby (Wicked, West End) as Inspector Hans Kemp/Harold the Hermit, and Julie Yammanee (Jerry’s Girls, Menier Chocolate Factory) as Inga.
The ensemble features Belle Kizzy Green, Robin Kent, Bryan Mottram, Alanna Panditaratne, Oliver Ramsdale, Hakeem Tinubu, Patricia Wilkins, and Jessica Wright.
This new production is directed and choreographed by Nick Winston (Bonnie & Clyde, Midnight Cowboy), with musical direction and co-musical supervision by Francesca Warren, set design by Sophia Pardon, orchestration and co-musical supervision by Charlie Ingles, sound design by Ben Harrison, lighting design by Aaron J Dootson, video and projection design by Matt Powell, costume design by Lorraine Parry, wigs and make-up design by Nicola Thorp, associate choreography by Lauren Kate Hampton, and casting by Jim Arnold.

Young Frankenstein has a book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, with music and lyrics by Mel Brooks, orchestrations by Doug Besterman & Mark Cumberland, and original direction and choreography by Susan Stroman.
The story follows the grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced “Fronk-en-steen”), who inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. With help from a hunchbacked assistant, Igor (pronounced “Eye-gore”), and lab assistant Inga, Frederick finds himself following in his ancestor’s notorious footsteps. When his creation comes to life, chaos and comedy ensue.
Celebrating Hope Mill Theatre’s 10th Anniversary
This production marks the 10th Anniversary of Hope Mill Theatre, which opened in October 2015. Founded by Joseph Houston and William Whelton, the award-winning venue has built an international reputation for its in-house musical theatre productions.
Young Frankenstein plays at Hope Mill Theatre, Manchester, until 30 November 2025, before transferring to the Liverpool Playhouse for Christmas 2025.
Hope Mill Theatre is also staging a concert version of Victoria Wood’s hit musical Acorn Antiques with an all-star cast. It will play two performances on 2 & 16 November 2025 at Manchester Palace Theatre and a London performance on 9 November 2025 at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
