Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats returns to Broadway next spring in a dazzling new reimagining — Cats: The Jellicle Ball — opening at the Broadhurst Theatre on 7 April 2026, following previews from 18 March 2026.

The hit production, which premiered at the Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC) in 2024, was hailed as one of the most acclaimed theatrical events of the year. Blending Lloyd Webber’s iconic score with the energy of New York’s ballroom culture, Cats: The Jellicle Ball earned rave reviews from The New York Times, The New Yorker, and Time Out, which called it “a lightning strike that sets joy free.”

Directed by Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch, with choreography by Omari Wiles and Arturo Lyons, this groundbreaking revival transforms the beloved musical into a glittering celebration of community, identity, and freedom.

Featuring music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot, Cats: The Jellicle Ball is presented by arrangement with LW Entertainment.

Returning from the Off-Broadway run are Tony and Grammy Award winner André De Shields as Old Deuteronomy, Jonathan Burke (Mungojerrie), Baby Byrne (Victoria), Sydney James Harcourt (Rum Tum Tugger), and “Tempress” Chasity Moore (Grizabella), among others. Additional casting will be announced.

Since its premiere, the production has been honoured with Outer Critics Circle, OBIE, and Audelco Awards, as well as a Chita Rivera Award for choreography.

The creative team for the Broadway transfer includes Rachel Hauck (set design), Qween Jean (costume design), Adam Honoré (lighting design), Kai Harada (sound design), Brittany Bland (projection design), and Nikiya Mathis (hair and wig design). Music supervision and direction are by William Waldrop.

Produced by Michael Harrison and Mike Bosner, Cats: The Jellicle Ball marks a thrilling new chapter for Lloyd Webber’s global phenomenon — uniting iconic music, ballroom artistry, and the joy of theatrical reinvention. It follows on from his new immersive spin-off of The Phantom of the Opera, Masquerade which is also playing in New York (see Masquerade production photos).
