Hit Edinburgh Fringe play The Chaos That Has Been and Will No Doubt Return is transferring to London.
The acclaimed production will run at Southwark Playhouse Borough from 3 to 27 September 2025.
Written by Sam Edmunds, this bitingly funny and raw play is based on his experience of working class repression growing up in Luton, and follows two best mates, one final party, and a moment that will change everything.
The play scored a hit at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, and premiered in Edinburgh in 2024, produced by Luton-based Chalk Line Theatre (Blanket Ban).

The production stars Elan Butler as Lewis, Nathaniel Christian as Voice, and Leanne Henlon as Lakesha and others.
Co-directed by writer Sam Edmunds, and Vikesh Godhwani, the wider creative team includes Set Designer Rob Miles, Sound Designer Matteo Depares, Lighting Designer Sam Edmunds, Movement Director Jess Tucker Boyd, Technical Stage Manager Eliott Sheppard, and Producer Chalk Line Theatre.
The Chaos That Has Been and Will No Doubt Return is set in austerity-stricken Luton over one chaotic night, and follows two best friends (Voice and Lewis) as they chase the highs of youth against a backdrop of systemic neglect. Painting a tapestry of violence and joy, it is a raw, real-time collision of friendship and survival. Told with biting wit and lyrical intensity, this production is a powerful exploration of class and identity, with a cracking house party that pulses round the corner.
