Hit West End musical The Devil Wears Prada has released the original London cast recording.

The album is released today, Friday 19 September, on CD, Digital & LP formats via Island EMI. Stream or buy here.

Alongside the 18 tracks from the stage show, the CD and Digital release also features two previously unheard Elton John Original Demos, which formed the architectural drawings the musical was built from. The two tracks are ‘I Mean Business’ and ‘The Devil Wears Prada’.

First-listen: ‘Dress Your Way Up’

The album also includes new single ‘Dress Your Way Up’, performed by Matt Henry (Kinky Boots, The Drifters’ Girl) as Nigel and Georgie Buckland (Shrek the Musical) as Andy.

The musical has been teasing its new cast album for a few weeks, with a fun video that mirrors a scene from the original film, where fierce fashion editor Miranda Priestly demands that her assistant Andy finds an unpublished copy of the latest Harry Potter book for her twins. Only this time, it’s the new The Devil Wears Prada The Musical cast album she requires!

Composer Elton John said in a statement: “The subject matter of The Devil Wears Prada absolutely screams out for music. It’s been one of my favourite films of the last 20 years, so when the conversation came up about me writing the music for the stage version, it was an absolute no-brainer. I’m always looking forward, never backwards, so it absolutely had to be a modern, contemporary score. The best musicals leave people with a joyous feeling, and that’s completely how I felt writing this. ‘It has been wonderful to see the response & success of the stage show and hearing the fantastic reactions to the songs.”
