Da Vinci’s Laundry is centred on two art experts faced with what is possibly a fake Da Vinci. This satirical look at the morally compromised world of art explores the value placed on masterpieces and the role of forgery, from status and power to money laundering and champagne oligarchs.

When two art assessors are faced with what is possibly a fake Da Vinci, it sets the scene for a satirical look at the morally compromised world of art, featuring Arsema Thomas (star of Netflix’s hit Bridgerton spin-off Queen Charlotte). The play moves from the value placed on masterpieces to the role of forgery, from status and power to money laundering and champagne oligarchs. It asks when art stopped being about creativity and started being about perception and power. With art going from the hearts of artists to the hands and vaults of billionaires, it considers who buys and sells the most valuable art, how different they are from the patrons that have historically supported artists, and asks what this means for the place art holds in the world today.
