Lin-Manuel Miranda’s blockbuster musical Hamilton is celebrating its 10th anniversary this week.
Hamilton first opened at Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York on 6 August 2015. The musical has gone on to win countless awards, including a Pulitzer Prize, 11 Tony Awards and 7 Olivier Awards.
The current London production of Hamilton opened at the Victoria Palace Theatre in December 2017, and is now booking to 28 March 2026.
On Broadway on 6 August, the show will celebrate its anniversary with two special performances: a 1pm fan-filled matinee, and 7pm invite-only anniversary performance of Hamilton, that is also a fundraiser for the Immigrants: We Get the Job Done Coalition.
Hamilton UK cinema release
In other Hamilton news, Lin-Manuel Miranda told ‘The Tonight Show’ this week, that the filmed version of the show featuring the original cast, which debuted on Disney+ in 2020, is hitting cinemas.
Miranda said on ‘The Tonight Show’: “We filmed most of the original cast performing in Hamilton in 2016, and we always wanted to release it theatrically, but then the pandemic hit, and so we decided to release it on streaming so that everyone could see it at home whenever they wanted. But, Sept. 5, you will be able to see Hamilton in movie theaters nationwide and in Puerto Rico.”
In addition to the US, Canada and Puerto Rico release of Hamilton on 5 September 2025, the movie will also play in UK & Ireland cinemas from 26 November 2025, and in Australia and New Zealand cinemas on 13 November 2025.
The hit Broadway musical will be released in cinemas featuring the original cast of the show, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Phillipa Soo, Leslie Odom Jr., Renee Elise Goldsberry, Daveed Diggs, Jonathan Groff, and more.

The London production of Hamilton currently stars Alex Sawyer (Girl From The North Country) as Alexander Hamilton, Jay Perry (Back to the Future) as Aaron Burr, Bente Mulan (Disney’s Frozen) as Eliza Hamilton, Jonathan Andrew Hume (Shucked) as George Washington, Yeukayi Ushe (The Lion King) as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Jasmine Jia Yung Shen (Six The Musical) as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds, Emily-Mae (The Bodyguard) as Angelica Schuyler, Jordan Castle (Guys & Dolls) as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison, Jordan Benjamin (The Little Big Things) as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton and Daniel Boys (Avenue Q) as King George III.
